I’ve been in a fashion rut the last couple of years. I think a lot of it has to do with body image. I have a very particular style that I like and unfortunately, it’s hard for me to make that work, in a way that I like, on my body type.
This has led to me to not trying at all and making my body image issues that much worse. This, coupled with the fact that 90% of my life is spent in business casual clothing, has equated to my time off being spent in oversized flannels, leggings, and my favorite boots. Don’t get it twisted – I love my oversized flannels, leggings, and boots. They are the most comfortable thing I own. The problem is…sometimes it’s nice to feel cute. Right? I haven’t felt cute in an outfit in probably a year now which is depressing to realize.
All this to say, is that I am trying again. I am trying to look at myself more positively in regards to body image. I want to lose weight too but I also don’t want to lose weight and still hate myself because I didn’t work on the whole internal/psychological thing first. And I am trying to buy nicer clothes and actually wear them in my free time.
Sorry for that long ass introduction. Let’s cut to the chase. Here are some recent clothing finds that I actually love!
This has been on my list for a while because I used to have this bomb jean jacket when I was younger that I literally wore with everything. I finally picked this one up from Forever 21 and it’s actually really nice. It’s just a plus that denim jackets are really in style right now.
I tried on this blouse because I liked the shade of blue and ended up loving it. Before I got it on, I was so worried it would make me look pregnant because of the way it was cut and my larger chest size but it ended up being really flattering.
Okay, so maybe this is cheating because these are technically for work but they are so nice I felt the need to share. I picked these up at the suggestion of another blog and they really are so comfortable.
I.LOVE.THIS.SWEATER. Seriously. It’s just my luck that they only have one color available because I want like 8 more of these guys. I love the look of turtle necks but they usually are too constricting for me; so this ‘mock-neck’ sweater is perfect. It’s flattering, comfortable, and cute!
I had this whole outfit idea in my mind to pair with my new jean jacket: black jeans, white shirt, and the jacket. Boy, did I think I would look fly but the actual result wasn’t the best so I’m still working on that. However, the black jeans I ended up finding are really great on their own! Comfortable skinny jeans without showing off the stuff you don’t want to show off.
It’s not much, but not one of these are leggings or flannels and that’s improvement in my opinion.
